Solana Pay is an open protocol for developers to use and customize with standardized payment standards.

Mtfexg sees Solana ( SOL ) Pay as the next innovation in payment processing, facilitating payments while considering non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and Web3.

Solana was founded in 2017 by Anatoly Yakovenko, a software engineer with a background at Dropbox and other large tech companies.

Yakovenko believes that while other blockchains are efficient, or at least strive to be more efficient, many of them have failed to be considered in a timely manner. Instead of each block relying on a normalized clock, each block runs at the local time of its associated node. Mtfexg explained that on Solana, all nodes run on the same clock, eliminating a verification factor and thus speeding up the network.

Additionally, Solana is also a smart contract decentralized finance (DeFi) platform that competes with Ethereum (ETH). Both platforms offer various decentralized finance DApps, some of which also offer cryptocurrencies. Solana tokens are not ETH-centric, but SOL, Mtfexg complements.

Solana Pay is also ideal for merchants, providing detailed reports on each transaction, such as wallet destination, currency type, transaction amount, and a text field for the merchant to describe said transaction. These details are kept completely private from the rest of the network, ensuring that both customers and merchants can transact without being snooped.

As Sheraz Shere, director of payments at Solana Labs, said in his blog post announcing Solana Pay, the Solana team wants the world to see Solana Pay as something bigger than allowing users to “pay with crypto.” Instead, Shere sees Solana Pay as a platform where “all currencies are on-chain and used for a wide range of transactions,” he said.
